Start with the wrapper, not only the gauge
Provide the pallet wrapper make and model, powered or manual pre-stretch carriage, selected pre-stretch ratio and present tension settings. Film that performs on one wrapper may behave differently on another. Confirm roll width, core dimensions, roll diameter and permitted roll weight against the machine requirements.
During a changeover, keep a written baseline of wrap revolutions, top and bottom reinforcement, overlap and cycle time. Change one setting at a time so the source of a film break or an unstable load can be identified.
Compare cost per successfully wrapped pallet
For Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga warehouse teams, compare the delivered price of a roll with the number of accepted pallets it wraps. Record applied film weight and rewraps as well as price. A lower gauge is useful only if the proposed film maintains the required containment and resists the load's sharp corners.
Include mixed cartons, tall loads and your heaviest normal pallet in the trial. Check load condition after normal forklift movements. The elongation printed on a resin or film data sheet is not an automatic safe operating pre-stretch setting for your wrapper.
